Methodology

The New England Critical Freight Index is calculated from proprietary shipment activity within the 28Freight Xcelerator platform. Shipments are assigned to each reporting month based on proof-of-delivery date. Raw shipment volumes are normalized into month-over-month percentage changes and standardized index scores, allowing directional trend analysis while protecting proprietary operational data.

Overall Activity
Directional movement across completed Xcelerator shipments during the reporting month.
Airport Freight
Directional movement in shipments associated with maintained airport, airline, cargo-handler, freight-forwarder and airport-freight classifications.
Life Sciences
Directional movement in shipments associated with maintained life sciences organization classifications.
Boston Logan Cargo
Directional movement in Boston Logan cargo activity reported by the Massachusetts Port Authority. Cargo volume is measured by weight and serves as an external benchmark.

Historical Airport Freight and Life Sciences figures have been updated to reflect expanded customer and location classifications. Historical values may therefore differ from previously published figures.
